Measure your waist while losing weight on the Dukan Diet

The French nutritionist Pierre Dukan's diet is perhaps one of the most famous diets in the world.The Pierre Dukan diet, invented in the late 90s of the last century, immediately won the love and trust of hundreds of thousands of followers around the world.The essence of the Dukan diet is simple: as little carbohydrates as possible, as much protein as possible.The author of the Dukan diet was guided by the diet of a primitive hunter and gatherer.According to Dukan, since the days when the main source of food was grasses and edible roots gathered by women and animal meat obtained by men, our bodies, and especially its needs for essential nutrients, have remained virtually unchanged.But sugar, white flour and other products that form the basis of modern man's diet were not familiar to primitive ancestors.Now, when we switch to our normal diet, we get fat, gain weight and get sick.Pierre Dukan's diet is designed to bring the diet as close as possible to "natural" and thereby force the body to remember the times when the muscles were strong and the fat layer was thin.

The beginning of the Dukan diet

The Dukan diet consists of four stages.Two of them are designed for weight loss, and two are designed to prevent the so-called "yo-yo effect" when the weight lost by dieting returns.Moreover, it is assumed that the weight should stabilize already in the middle of the two phases.Where to start on the Dukan diet?The easiest way is from the first stage, which lasts from two to seven days.

Despite the short duration, the first stage of the Dukan diet, the so-called attack, is very effective: after it, on average, up to 4 kilograms of excess weight is lost.

This is followed by a second, alternative phase that is longer and aimed at stabilizing weight loss.If everything goes well, in the second phase of the Dukan diet, about one kilogram is lost per week.The duration of this stage is calculated individually, depending on how much excess weight a person wants to lose using the Dukan diet.

The third stage of the Dukan diet is focused on the consolidation of the obtained results.Its duration is calculated by a simple formula: 10 days of diet for every kilogram lost.Let's say that if you lost 10 kilograms, the third stage will last 100 days.

After completing the third phase, the final phase of the Dukan diet begins, the fourth phase, which continues throughout life.But do not be afraid: in the fourth stage of the diet, you only need to return to a strict set of foods once a week.The rest of the time, it is important to only eat oat bran every day, drink enough water and walk for at least 20 minutes every day.

According to Pierre Dukan, as a result of the "reprogramming" that occurs with the help of attacks, the body learns to use protein rather than carbohydrates as the basis for energy.In addition, during the passage of all stages of the Dukan diet, a person comes to an individual norm that is most suitable for his body weight and size - lifestyle, height, age and other parameters.

Stages of the Dukan diet

Thus, the first stage of the Dukan diet - the attack - allows you to see the first results of the diet a few days after the start.During an attack, remember to consume 1.5 tablespoons of oatmeal a day, walk for at least half an hour a day and drink 1.5 - 2 liters of water.As for the foods that can be eaten in the first phase of the Dukan diet, the main ones are protein foods.Low-fat and carbohydrate protein foods can be consumed in almost unlimited quantities.Also, in the first phase of the Dukan diet, it is allowed to consume foods that do not contain protein, but also almost no carbohydrates and fats - first of all, of course, these are various drinks.In the first phase of the Dukan diet, 72 high-protein foods are allowed: such a variety of foods allows the diet to be comfortable for almost any person, even those who do not tolerate dietary restrictions very well.

The second phase of the Pierre Dukan diet, "alternation", should stabilize the obtained result.At this stage, vegetables are added to protein products (except starchy ones - for example, potatoes, corn).Both vegetables and foods high in protein can still be eaten in almost unlimited quantities, the main thing is to follow the alternating principle: eat only protein foods on one day, and protein with vegetables on the second.It is still necessary to eat oatmeal every day - at this stage it is already two tablespoons a day.In general, oatmeal is one of the main products of the Dukan diet.Oat bran is high in protein, helps maintain satiety, is good for the heart, and also stimulates bowel movement.

In the second phase of the diet, it is also important to drink up to two liters of pure water a day and to devote at least half an hour a day to physical activity.

In the third phase of the diet, you can eat unlimited amounts of protein and vegetables, and you can also add some fruits and dairy products.The main rules of the third stage of the Dukan diet are:

  • you can eat fruit, except bananas, grapes, cherries, dried fruits and nuts;
  • You can eat two pieces of rye bread every day, as well as 40 g of hard cheese;
  • twice a week you can eat pasta with tomato sauce, 225 g of couscous, bulgur or millet, lentils, beans and potatoes (all without fat);
  • You can include lamb, pork and pork in your diet several times a week.

We remind you that the duration of this phase of the Dukan diet depends on how much excess weight a person loses in this process: each kilogram lost is "worth" the 10-day diet.

The fourth stage of the Dukan diet involves returning to your usual diet, but there are certain rules that must be followed by those who do not want to lose the results achieved.The rules of the fourth stage of the Dukan diet:

  • Eat only protein foods once a week.
  • Drink at least two liters of water a day.
  • Walk for at least 20 minutes every day.
  • Eat three tablespoons of oat bran every day.
